Inspiration

Rimba is inspired by our founder Amrit's stay at the Danau Girang Research Centre along the Kinabatangan River, where he embarked on an expedition in nature to get to know better our tropical rainforests, our rimba. For two weeks, he was in the wilderness with his college biology team without distractions of technology, accompanied only by the sound of nature buzzing alive. During his stay, he managed to tag a baby crocodile, witness a flock of hornbills starting their day at 5am and be part of the circle of life that is our country's plentitude of flora and fauna.

The air was balmy and the forest loomed tall and mighty. A metallic minerality of time standing still and mossy dampness of life springing forth touched Amrit's nose. Its height left Amrit in awe and its depth humbled him to the core. It evoked a sense of appreciation towards nature and the need to preserve it in order to co-exist as co-dependents of life and diversity.
